How to detect plugin that is causing Excessive resource usage

  • I’m running multisite and getting cpanel messages about Excessive resource usage. It points to the user which is the multisite.

    Looking at the dates I deactivated all the plugins of the website I was working on during that time. But the resource usage is still excessive. Traffic on my multisite is not much. Guess some 300 users per day so I guess it is a plugin. But how can I detect the plugin that is causing the problem. Is the only way to deactivate the plugin on all the sites of my network one by one? I don’t hope so…

  • Check with your webhost and what they set as “excessive”. On many shared hosts, it is not much at all.

    I remembered that I had one plugin that couldn’t be activated initially so I removed that one and killed the procecess in cpanel. They were consuming 30% so it was too excessive for me. They didn’t show up again, so I think this is it.

    Which plugin was it, out of curiosity? Other people may run into the same issue ??
