    Hello Imagify Team,

I want to completely delete WebP images from my website, so if I simply unticked “Create webp versions of images” and “Display images in webp format on the site” then click on “Save Changes“. Will all my WebP images be deleted from my website? or do I need to manually delete those WebP images via FTP or SFTP?
I have already read your documentation (https://imagify.io/documentation/delete-webp-images-website/) but I am still confused. I also saw an option in the Media Library “Delete webp images” so if I delete those WebP images from the media library, do I need to manually delete those WebP images using FTP or SFTP?

    Hi @wikihelp360!

This is Joseph from Imagify, and I’ll gladly assist you here!

If you untick the “Create webp versions of images” this will only prevent future WebP versions from being generated.

If you untick the “Display images in webp format” setting, the WebP files all stay on your server as they were, but they won’t be served to your pages.

To delete the WebP images, you would need to either do that via (S)FTP using the guide you linked. Clicking the “Delete webp images” links you referenced will work too, though those links only exist for your WELL DONE images, so to delete all the WebP files, your best option is likely to use (S)FTP.

The following video should be helpful for you in doing this:

Is there some specific point as far as deleting the WebP files that you’re confused with? Just let me know and I’ll be glad to help as best as I can!

    Best regards,
    Joseph

    Hello Joseph,
    hope you are fine.

I have watched this 14-second tutorial video but in this video, it is not mentioned that in which directory you are deleting the WebP images. By default, WordPress stores all the images and media uploads in /wp-content/uploads/ folder on the server. But I can’t find WebP images in this folder, so please help me to fix this problem.

I really appreciate your help, Thank you ??

    @wikihelp360,

Sure, I would be glad to continue assisting!

By default, WordPress does store your images and media uploads in wp-content/uploads/, but they are typically organized into year and month subfolders within this folder. So for example, you might find your most recent images (and any WebP versions of them) in the following folder:

    wp-content/uploads/2021/04/

Have you tried checking in these folders for your images?

    Best regards,
    Joseph
