How to delete thousands of categories at once ?

  • I have about +150 pages worth of categories and I want to delete them all. Is there a way to do it in one fell swoop instead of page by page from the dashboard ? Even that is taking more time than it should as I keep getting errors… I’m on the latest install of WordPress.

    Under “Screen Options” on the top right of the wp admin you can choose how many categories or pages are shown. change the value to 150. click on the top checkbox and all categories or pages are selected. then use the bulk action delete feature.

    Is there another way than to do it from the dashboard ? I have over 3000 categories in there, and trying to delete batches of 500 categories at a time seems to invariably fail. I always get to an error page, ect.
