How to delete the basic (first) website

  • I have a local multisite installation with 2 webs. Now I want to delete the first one and replace by the second one. Is there any possibility to do that? By default I can only delete the second website.

  • I dont think that is possible. Well it is possible, but would require a lot of manual manipulation of the data – database and filesystem. I have never done it

    Have you considered leaving your main site alone and promoting your second site to primary.

    The problem is that you really cannot delete the main site without a lot of difficulty. However it should be possible for you to “rename” the main site; and to rename your second site AND promote it as the primary.

    Look for this in wp-config.php and put in the site id of the second site.
