how to delete bulk posts without getting error

  • I’m trying to trash 400 posts but I getting this error

    Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

  • There can be various reasons that could have generated such an error and nothing can be firmly said about why you got such an error.

    Did you try deleting the articles again ? If not then try doing so and check if you get the same error. Also, check if you face the same issue while trying to delete a single post.

    Well, if you still get the same error I’d suggest you to get in touch with your host immediately and seek assistance. It may be a server configuration issue where the particular function might have been blocked over the server.

    I can delete single post and about 10 post without any problem, but when I try to delete a lot of posts, I only get about error. I can’t contact my host because this is unmanaged dedicated server, I managed it all by myself… I using windows 2008 with Parallels Plesk 10.

    Apologies for the much much delayed response. Well, I hope you’d have found a solution to the problem by now. But if you haven’t, here is a work-around to deleting posts in bulk. It should also help others who face a similar issue.

    Well there are basically two ways of deleting posts in bulk quantity :
    1. Manually – It’s usually a tedious task and can involve a lot of time if the posts are large in numbers. But it’s a safe way of doing it.

    2. From phpMyAdmin – I’d strongly suggesting avoiding this if you do not have experience with databases. In this go to phpMyAdmin >> select your WordPress database >> then delete all rows of ‘wp_posts’ table.
    Mind it, it’s is a risky business when doing it via. phpMyAdmin.

    I’d strongly advice you to secure a backup of all the files of your website before carrying out any of the above activities on your website.
