How to deal with spam and robots?

Hello everybody,

I am using wp-statistics for a couple of days now and found that the visit numbers are far higher than on Google Analytics. I understand that different tools will probably never exactly match, however, my site is rather small with only a few true visits per day and with this huge inaccuracy the plugin is almost useless to me. So I was wondering if somebody could share any advices or best practices on how to handle unwanted visits with wp-statitics.
