• Hello.

I’m customizing my WP into a CMS for a client to use.
I want to make a menu entry that edits a post of a particular category.
That part is easy, I am already doing it.

Now, what I want to do is add an extra field on the edit post layout of that category. I can make an edit layout of my own but I want to use the WP tinyMCE and it’s functionalities on that editing layout. How can I include the tinyMCE and it’s functionalities and the publish module in a new edit page of my own?

Anyone has a clue of how can I do this ?

  • Likewise, I’m interested in customizing what is seen/available on the Edit Posts page for non-Admins. Specifically, want to remove the Send Trackbacks section, and under Discussion section remove “Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this post”.

Looked around in some of the PHP files, but haven’t found “the spot” (I’m not a programmer, but usually successful using the “whack and see” method of making changes ;-).

    Appreciate any tips.

Well, Bob finally woke up. Initially, I tried Feed Disabler … which has no configurations to speak of (v0.5). The went to CYC – Customize Your Community. This has the controls to turn off the Send Trackbacks and Allow T/P … for user accounts. That is, it took a little while for my eyeball-brain coordination to kick in, and realize that all the User tests I was doing, while logged in with the Admin account, would OF COURSE show me these options. When logged in as any user the options are not visible, as configured w/CYC. DORK!

Double Dork … CYC helps customize your login screen, so obviously that’s not it. Instead, check out WP-CMS Post Control plugin. That’s the trick.
