I’ve recently converted one of my sites to a static home page but can I get links to new posts to appear ‘automagically’ in the home page?

Right now they’re kinda buried away in the sidebar with a widget. As it stands, I have copy/paste/amend a chunk of the new post into the home page.

• If you want new posts to appear on your home page, why did you switch to a static home page?

Good question: I don’t want to fill the home page with new posts. Rather I’d like to be able to insert links to new posts.

In that case, you might be better off simply editing the theme’s index.php file and limiting the Loop display to just the post titles.

Esmi,
I’ve switched back to the normal setup but have no idea how to modify index.php.

Would using the excerpt or more function to only show a summery or the lead paragraph of each post on the front page work? I think you could use the more function at the top of your Post so only the title shows – then no code to change>

Saildude,
That’s how I configured my other site <https://www.creative-i.info> unless it’s a short piece.

The thing with the other site is that I have 1000s of files all in plain html that I’ve built up over the years and it’s a valuable resource, so I was trying to create a more flexible home page to include links to the old site. I may have to look at a more flexible theme. It’s now I wish I knew how to use php, then I’d build one to my liking.
