How to create white space into PDF?

Hello!

I sometimes write long posts, which I split into multiple parts. Into those posts I manually add a shortcode, that writes out previous and next links. If you take a look at the page, which I’ve added a link to, you see, that the links are nicely separated

I may have done this in dumb way by padding right the first link

<div style="text-align: center;"><a style="padding-right: 20%;" href="…

because when the PDF is created, there is no space between the links. So, what is the correct way to create space, that is retained in the PDF?
