How to create the certificate template

Let me start by saying I am not a website designer by trade i have simpley taken on the task of re-creating my own business website and have become slightly overwhelmed. lol so i could use some expert opinions and advice!
I have installed the educator and educator certificates pluins on a website that i am building and I cannot figure out how to accomplish the task of creating the certificate templates. How do i go about setting up the template?
How do i make the certificate generate after a certain action is completed without my being involved in the matter?
Is this plug in capable of auto generation for certificates?
Do run the courses apart from the shopping cart because i noticed it asked for prices?
Is this a membership only website feature?please help,
