How to create shared space for members-only to exchange resources

  • Hello WP friends! I would like to create an online platform where teachers can share and access created instructional resources, e.g., lesson plans, videos, activities, worksheets, etc. This platform would be accessible only to members of our non-profit organization (and linked from our existing website). These resources could come in different formats (video, PDF, Word document, web link).

    However, rather than create a traditional hierarchy of folders a la Dropbox, I’d like for members to drop all resources in the same space and simply tag them as they see fit (e.g., “1st grade”, “bilingual”, “lesson plan”, “lower elementary”), and these tags would be hyperlinked so new members can search by tag and view all items similarly tagged. Alternatively, members could simply scroll what’s available and not be limited to choosing a specific folder. We will give new members a unique login/password to access this platform. Could I create such a platform with WP? Thank you!!

  • Yes. This is possible using a few plugins. You would have assign the teachers a certain role then assign pages to that role. Only the users assigned to that role will see those pages.

    Thanks! Guidance on which plugins? Would such a page be searchable in the way I indicated, based on user-assigned tags?
