• Hi all,

Does anyone know how to install a search box that gives users the option of searching either the site, or searching the web? i.e. with little buttons below the search box where the user can select one or the other.

I have an Adsense account for Google Custom Search, which I’d want to implement for the Web search, but how to combine the two?

    Thanks

  • Google’s search box code generates the search box, you don’t need to make one, just paste the code wherever you want it.

Yes, but can I combine a “search this site” with the Google Search box? I’ve seen these on other websites, and you have two buttons beneath the box allowing you to choose one type of search or the other….

Google should give you the code for it.

Thanks, that’s almost what I’m trying to do. I’ll take a closer look and see if I can tweak it, though I am a total newbie at coding and php….

I’d like to get it to look something like the search box at the top of this page

You can just use radio buttons instead of a check box. Just have the radio button for the entire web be value=""

    OK, thanks.

Now, does this work with Google Custom Search (linked to my Adsense account) or would that be a separate search box?

Well, for now I’ve created two separate search boxes. A “search this site” widget at the top of my sidebar, and a Google Search for Adsense box half-way down. Maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to work when you want to use a Google Search box for Adsense…
