How to Create Favicon

    Hi there,

    I’m trying to add a Favicon to my site:
    nicoleelizabethortiz.com

    Using the Circa theme.

    Was having trouble finding anything that’s not from years less than three years ago.

  • Simply upload your logo and generate a favicon

    Great — where do I upload it to though? (Sorry I’m really terrible at this stuff.)

    generate your favicon and upload it to your current theme folder (example wp-content/themes/circa)
    Go to your dashboard > Appearance > Editor
    then navigate to Header.php from the right menu and add the following code <link rel="shortcut icon" href="<?php echo get_stylesheet_directory_uri(); ?>/favicon.ico" /> below the <head> tag

    I’d suggest avoiding modifying theme files – as your changes will be lost when the theme is updated (unless you are using a child theme).

    Sorry not to mention that you will lose the changes after updating ur theme.. thanks to WPyogi

    There’s no Editor section underneath Appearance for me, just says: Themes, Customize, Widgets, Menus, Header, Background, and Mobile. When I went to Header, there wasn’t anywhere to add text of any sort.

    I also can’t download Plug-ins. I have no idea why.

    Perhaps, because your site is on WordPress.COM? In that case, you are asking on the wrong forums – try here:

    what you mean by you cant download plugins ??
    Visit your dashboard then navigate to Plugins > Add New
    Then Search for (Favicon by RealFaviconGenerator), then press on Install Now

    WPyogi is right. I’m using wordpress.com. Didn’t realize there was a difference, especially because every time I search for help the only thing that comes up are these forums.
