How to create custom template for custom post type

  • Hi,
    My requirement is to create a custom template for a custom post type and want to display some custom fields in the content. But I couldn’t find the exact location to add my code, please do guide me.

    I have done this before with twentytwelve and a couple of other templates, but with this theme I am facing a bit difficulty in finding the right place in the code.

    Thanks a lot for your quick reply @AdaRen, thanks for your time and effort to help me out. I have gone through the description of the plugin u suggested….and it seems this will fit my requirement. I will try the plugin in a couple of days and will get back here to post the results.

    Hello again,

    I guess I interpreted the description in wrong way.

    To create custom fields I used ACF plugin….now I need to make my theme(responsive theme) know that those fields exist and I want to display my custom field data in the content for a specific custom post type…..but couldn’t find the location where I need to place my custom code int he theme, I have done this with 3 other templates before but now with this responsive theme it seems a bit more complex to do so (at least for me).

    Never mind guys…..I achieved what I wanted with ‘bones’ starter theme…..thanks
