How to create columns in pages as per Accelerate Themegrill sample

I really like the layout of the sample theme for Accelerate by ThemeGrill with the 3 columns in the page, which is why I chose it to create my blog site. I want my blog stories to post on the blog page in 3 columns. I must be missing a simple check box, yet cannot find it. I tried to use a column plug-in but that created other problems so I de-activated it. Thank you for your experience and direction!
