How to Create Child Theme After Using Editor

  • Hi, I’m creating a new website. It’s not live yet, but I just realized I never made a child theme. I used Child Theme Configurator plug in which is supposed to overwrite the Parent thems with my edits, but it just reverts it back to the original theme without my menu and copy. Would copying and pasting my style.css and functions.php from my dev site to the child theme files?

    Hi @carolb33

    In that case, you might need to replicate or copy the content from parent theme to child theme manually.
    If you are worried that the changes will be gone if there is theme update, technically the changes you have made in parent theme’s templates (from editor), will not lost even if there is a theme update.
    As long as you saved it, and also make sure to make a backup.
    And you are not editing the template html file directly.
