How to create a welcome line for users

Hi

I’ve started working with Simple Membership (a very useful and good working plugin) and I would like to customize some functions:
I know how (and where) to display the user profile, but I would like to know if it is possible to create a very short line, sort of “Hi, name-of-the-user” and place it, f.e. in the main menu or in a html text area (screenshot)Screenshot in order to make the user know that he/she is logged.
