• Hi! First of all, i’m sorry, that my keyboard just sent the ENTER key a liitle bit to fast… :-/
    Ok..

    I have a little problem with trackbacks. There is a blog with some entries that only has the standard parameter url.. (https://domain.com/path/to/wordpress/?p=3)
    I would like to create a trackback, but there’s no trackback url displayed. Is it possible to create one, and how to get the url? Is it something like ?trackback=yes or so..?

    Please help me!

    Greetings
    Andreas

  • If you’ve got your WP set to automatically send trackbacks/pingbacks, then simply linking to the blog article from your entry will send the trackback without further input from you.

    @jonlandrum,
    half-true.
    Simply linking to a blog article sends a pingback, not a trackback. For sending a trackback you do need the TB URL of the other post to put it in the designated field in the Write area.

    Ah. Okay. Glad to know that. This whole time I thought they were synonyms. ;o)

    They are different, but not in any really significant end-user noticable way, IMO. Sometimes pingbacks won’t display excerpts on the blog being pinged, sometimes they will. Depends on the pingback receiving blog. Main advantage to pingbacks is that they are automatic. Simply linking to somebody’s blog will generate a pingback.
