how to create a Subtheme

  • I wonder how does to create a subtheme of current theme which not involved to be set as active theme?

    I had read some info about child theme, but(correct me if Im wrong) it required to be activated to used that theme.

    What Im after is that my theme have an option to choose its own subtheme(or perhaps child theme) without need to activate that theme.
    Does this possible btw?
