How to create a simple theme

Hi,

I have been reading a book about themes and watching some videos but I was wondering if I could create a theme without any live interaction. In other words a plain web site with 5 pages with a menu and its content, no posts no… nothing.

What would be the minimum code, and templates needed for this?

index.php
header.php
sidebar.php
footer.php
style.css

Would this be enough? If yes, what would be the minimum code needed in each template?

Is there some sort of themes like the ones found in Starkers but with less code or simpler?

I only need to create a static site with 5 pages that can be easily updated and
I’m afraid to delete stuff that wordpess needs.
