    Dear WPFront support,

I have recently installed your plug-in and I wanted to create a role for comment moderators.

These users are not supposed to modify or publish articles, they are just here to make sure that every comment is polite and respectful.

In the settings, I checked the “Dashboard” -> Read option, the “edit post” option (altough I don’t want them to be able to edit posts, it seems that this is the only way to have access to the comment section) and the “edit” and “moderate” comments permissions.

However, my test user, which belongs to this “moderator” custom group, does not have the possibility to moderate comments, neither from the post itself, nor from the backend.

Could you please tell me which persmissions are required to allow users to moderate comments, and comments only if possible ?

Also, is it possible to create a dashboard widget that displays the latests comments ?

Thank you for your help and time.

    Regards.

I’m not exactly sure how to do this. But based on my understanding you need both edit_post and moderate capabilities. But just edit_post is not enough, that depends on the status of the post. For example if the post is published you will also need permission to edit published posts. Hope this makes sense. Thanks.

    Dear Syam,

    Thank you for your answer.

I have done that, but it does not work !

I added the permission for edit published posts. With my test account, I can access the list of comments that are pending. I cannot modify them though. Also, I can make a bulk “approve” or “trash” but it does not change anything, the action is available in the combobox but it is pointless to execute it since the request does not seem to be taken under account.

How could I make sure that I have a moderator role ?

Try enabling all the capabilities under posts. Then disable one by one, so that you will know which capabilities are required. You can not just have permission to comments. If you need permission to comments, you also have permission to give posts. So I’m not sure whether you can achieve a “true” moderator role. Why don’t you setup forums if you are looking for moderator functionality.

    Sorry for the delayed response.
