How to copy a file from parent theme to child theme?

How to copy a file from parent theme to child theme? Please don’t say just copy.
Do I copy the contents of it? When I right click, I see option as copy link address though. Copy link doesn’t work, to add a new file to child, I don’t see an option too. Kindly help.
