• It looks like someone just attempted to post a link to child porn in a comment on my blog, and a google search of their email address showed similar comments appearing on other WordPress blogs. How can I report this and stop the poster spamming their site on other WordPress blogs?

  • Anti spam plugins, such as Akismet (already in the WP pack), Bad Behavior, JS Spamblock, just search a bit through the plugins section. I use Bad Behavior in combination with JS Spamblock and I rarely get spam.

Not had a problem with spam before, it’s not about the spam, I’d like to see this person get sent down! The comment didn’t make it to my blog but it wasn’t a nice thing to have to deal with.

So what do you think it is? Pingback or trackback spam is also a possibility, but when it had been a hack, I don’t suppose they’d have tried to put it in the comments.

It was a seemingly genuine comment from a poster saying they liked one of my posts, but I clicked the username to check out the user’s personal site and it appeared to be full of links to illegal types of porn. Maybe it was a genuine post, but I wouldn’t like links such as that one appearing on my blog even if they’re just in a person’s username.

so its spam.. install a plugin, or whatever and be done with it.

    welcome to the WWW.

Does *nobody* get my point? Never mind whether it was spam or not (it doesn’t look like spam and I have Akismet active anyway), that’s not the issue here. I’m more concerned that the poster may be putting up *child porn* on their own site. It’s not an issue for the UK police so who can I report it to?

Everybody gets your point. What YOU are failing to get is that THIS is not a law enforcement forum. All the advice given was on how to combat SPAM which is what you can expect at a support site such as this one.

For goodness sakes, take a walk and visit your local police station! Or call them. There is no one to report to here, do what you need to do via law enforcement.

Is this on a wordpress.com site? If so contact [email protected].
If it’s just a random web site that uses wordpress, there’s no one to contact. Do you contact Microsoft when you receive porn email? No. WordPress is the software it’s up to the users how they use it.
Contact the police. There are even organizations online that you can report this kind of thing to.
Since this may be an international issue, try visiting the sites in the following google query:
