How to construct replicas of your site in multisite?

    Trying to learn and adapt to the as yet unsolved intricacies of inserting an image into the footer and into the menu I realised that even if I did make it with methods like this or just making the links iframes, I would still be left with the fact that wordpress doesn’t take kindly whatsoever to mydomain.com/frenchfolder/frenchpage, changes it to mydomain.com/frenchfolderfrenchpage automatically and leaves you stranded. The only workaround is a pain in the ass and requires setting the backgrounds, and the themes and all else, all over again from 0, and it’s a workaround that comes in the form of what wordpress calls the multisites, fed into subdirectories.

    Surely there’s an easier way?

    I’m not clear on what you’re asking, but at a guess….

    Edit the theme directly and it will change for all sites using that theme. If you want to replicate the content, there are replicator plugins

    I know that when I create a new site in multisite, it sets up the default twenty eleven.

    So.. seriously, what do you mean!

    Replicator plugins, there is one that’s paid in first search result of google that claims to do this. Are there any free ones?

    That depends on what YOU mean ??

    Your question is unclear and vague, so it’s hard to give an answer without guessing. Which I did.

    What are you trying to do? To make a ‘replica’ of a site do you mean you want to copy everything over to a new site, posts and pages and plugin settings? Or do you mean you want to change your default LAYOUT (i.e. the theme) so all sites have the same look with different content?

    Yes, the paid version of Replicator is the best plugin I know of (and at $35? cheap!). It will copy your blog, all your posts, your plugin and theme settings etc, to a new blog on your network.
