How to configure the theme easily ?

Hi !
I’m looking for my photoblog theme and it seems this is the one. Is there any tutorial for this as I run another blog based on Twenty Eleven, which is significantly different to start with. Can I for example “slide-feature” my photo categories on the main page ? Another strange thing is lack of a page with “attached blog posts.
And what about some icons, like instagram ?
