Hi, I installed and configured Hummingbird a few days ago and all seemed to work well. I set some of the js and css to defer loading to the footer and tested each one as I went and none of them affected my site. I would make a change, refresh some pages on my website and they all continued to work.

I’ve come back a couple of days later and noticed my Google Analytics says I’ve had 0 visits for 2 days and if I try to access my site I just get a 503. I can successfully log into wp-admin but if I try to access the Hummingbird settings, I get a 503, so I can’t undo my changes. If I try to access the Plugins screen I also get a 503. If I log into my web server and rename the hummingbird plugin directory, my entire site plus all pages in wp-admin become instantly available.

I’ve then gone to the Plugin page and the only option for Hummingbird is Activate or Delete, so I’ve deleted it and it did that very quickly. I would like to try using Hummingbird again and maybe do less config of it, but now if I try to install it as a new plugin, I immediately get 503 for the entirety of my website. It’s like it hasn’t uninstalled any of its settings from last time.

    How do I do this?

    Thanks.

(I have access to phpmyadmin, so if you need me to delete a specific record from the wp database to allow me to activate hummingbird so that I can choose a proper ‘uninstall’ option, just let me know the records or SQL query)

    Hi @qaws,

At the moment, I’m afraid the plugin only helps with resetting the settings via the plugin settings as mentioned in the following doc:
    https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/hummingbird/#data-settings

Without knowing the source of the 503 error, it’s tough to say what exactly needs to be deleted on the database side. Neither we would be recommending such action.

It would be ideal if you could troubleshoot the source of the issue; a 503 is a server-specific error, and checking the server logs would give a better idea of what’s causing the 503 error when Hummingbird is enabled.

Could we know whether you checked with your hosting provider regarding the logs? Maybe there isn’t enough server resource? Could we know the available memory_limit set for the website? Could you please share the logs to have a better idea?

If you are still looking to check the tables, then Hummingbirds entries are saved in wp_options, wp_postmeta, and wp_posts; you should be able to find the meta values saved as “wp_hb” on the database side.

Please let us know what your hosting provider has to say regarding the 503 error.

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin
