Is there a way to change the width of the featured image? Specifically, I’m looking to make it as wide as the main post content, so there’s no whitespace on the left and right as there is now.

I’ve got a featured image up on a test post so you can see what I’m talking about. Here’s the site:

    Thanks!

  • Hey there,

Making that change would require some custom CSS code, possibly some other template file code, and testing across all the device widths the theme supports. Unfortunately we can’t support customizations like these that affect the theme design or functionality, as they can take more time than we can dedicate. If you feel you really need it, we’ve partnered with a company [moderated]

@mindctrl, Hi, I’m not sure if you’re aware of this but www.remarpro.com forums are driven by a community of volunteers. It is fine to say that you don’t support CSS customisations, but the community does support your product and you should utilise their support.

Also, please make sure you’re not using your account to promote any commercial products/ services.

@andrew, apologies if I broke some rule somewhere. The only thing I’ve found in writing is it isn’t acceptable to post affiliate links, which I did not do. We don’t profit at all from the non-affiliate link I shared. If you could point me to a list of written rules I’d be glad to review them for future use.

I didn’t discourage anyone from volunteering help, because that’s just crazy. Anyone is always free to hop in and lend a helping hand. I help in other forums from time to time because it’s just a good thing to do. I only stated our policy of not supporting customizations, and shared the link to our policy page describing the difference, with information that might actually help.

I appreciate good moderation, but removing helpful information is sort of the opposite intent of these forums.

    My apologies to @cineboxreviews.

You pointed out that you didn’t support these modifications, which is fine, but then you promoted a commercial service.

To clarify, this is not regarding linking to another page that outlined your policy. If that link was moderated then it was by mistake, feel free to add that in.

Mindctrl, I assume you’re with Array?

And I’m not quite getting what you’re saying here, because Editor clearly can take CSS customizations — this forum is full of people customizing the theme and changing its appearance, and you’re helping them. If you’re saying that my particular request can’t be done, fine, but it really sounds like you want me to go to whatever company you partnered with to get customizations just to make a picture wider, and that’s kind of weird, to be honest.

@cineboxreviews, yes I am with Array.

As noted in my first response, what you want will likely require more than just CSS changes, and testing on various devices due to it changing the structure, padding, margins, etc. of the theme. We don’t mind helping with CSS changes when time allows, but we can’t dive into deeper customizations like this.

    Hi guys,

Sorry for any confusion here this morning. mindctrl posted the link as a resource for fulfilling customizations, not as a means to advertise the service, though we can see how this might have been perceived that way. We had no ill intentions and will keep in mind the guidelines going forward.

Although we do partner with them, we do not encourage the use of their service for our own financial gain, rather a means for users to get their theme customized the way they want. We often have people ask where they can get these customizations done.

For clarification, if we see the customization requires light CSS/template changes, we’re happy to help provide those fixes. Sometimes fixes seems simple, but actually requires more template work or extra styles for tablet, mobile, etc. If that’s the case, we recommend users seek out a means of getting their theme customized professionally.

Again, sorry for any confusion, and I hope you are enjoying Editor!

Thanks ArrayHQ, I appreciate the response.

Just as clarification, I was absolutely not asking anyone to do deep customizations for me. I only asked because changing picture sizes on other templates I’ve used hasn’t been a problem — my experience is very limited, of course.

I do understand that with a responsive layout that works on multiple devices that it’s not always simple, but (like most people who ask on these help forums) I didn’t KNOW that for sure. Just as a friendly suggestion, maybe in the future you can explain that instead of immediately acting put out that someone even asked a question?

I’ll mark this as resolved and move on. Thanks again.
