• When setting up my blog, I somehow told WordPress to store all of my images in a single directory. Now, I’m beginning to worry that having so many items in a single directory could slow down image load times. Is there a way to tell WP to go back to the default settings for this, would be that media is saved into directories by year and month?

  • Go into your Dashboard and under the Settings section on the left hand side click on Media. You can then choose where you want uploads to be placed in the Uploading Files section.

I don’t have that option when I click on Media.

Do you use multisite? if so you can find it under “Super Admin > Site’s” click on edit when hovering over the site you want to edit. and change “Uploads Use Yearmonth Folders” to 1
