• I’ve been building a test web site on my domain name using the S2 Members plugin. Now, I’m ready to go live with my site using my client’s url. How do I handle this with S2 Members?

I’m afraid I will break everything I’ve setup so far.

Do you have instructions for this?

The test site is currently at:
    https://www.dumaswebdesign.com/soledadclub

I will be pointing the soledadclub.com domain towards this folder as soon as I figure out how to deal with S2 Members.

    Thanks!

  • I’m not sure what you consider the difficulty to be. Could you provide some more information, please?

Are you moving the site to a different location/host?

No, I will keep it where it is. I just wasn’t sure if I had to do anything with you all in particular because I have a license for one domain and I probably gave you my domain to begin with because I knew I would be setting up the site there.

I also wasn’t sure if I would need to manually change any relevant url’s within S2Members. I’ll probably be using the Velvet Blues plugin to update a bunch of the url’s.

Well, first, I’m a user not an s2Member dev. (They don’t generally comment here; they focus on supporting the Pro version.)

As to the license, I haven’t looked into the terms closely enough to know whether you are licensed only for the original domain. On the other hand, if you will be using s2 again, I’d just upgrade to the unlimited license anyway.

As for changing URLs, you may need to change the info with your payment processor and your emails. Otherwise, Velvet Blues should do the trick. I prefer to use relative URLs instead, so that I don’t need Velvet Blues, but I know some people don’t like that option.

    Hi Kim,

There’s nothing you need to do with regards to your license.

Regarding the s2Member configuration itself inside WordPress: You shouldn’t need to do anything there either. s2Member uses the WordPress configuration for the Site URL, so if you change that within WordPress (in Settings → General), then s2Member will automatically start using the new URL.

In any case, I do recommend testing things thoroughly once you go live to make sure everything is functioning as expected (this is a good idea whether or not you’re using s2Member).

    I hope this helps!
