  • You can create a custom index page called “home.php” and WordPress will call that page first when a visitor goes to your site.

The home.php file essentially replaces the index.php file when your readers surf to your blog. Following pages viewed will then use the index.php file (unless your theme calls to different templates).

    Hope that helps some …

    Hi,

You can create the index page with your desired anme and set that page as a FrontPage from wordpress admin area..settings -> reading settings.

    Thanks,

in which foldr should i upload home.php…wordpress installed folder or theme folder?

The “home.php” file should be uploaded to your (active) theme folder.

    Hi Sribharath,

Great website you have but I didn’t see the point of adding a static page with just a photo and a “enter site” request.
Especially you have a great magazine type of theme following.
Usually only very specific sites like multilingual sites put a page with a “Enter site” as they offer several choices.
Not sure this kind of configuration is not even penalizing your PR.
    Just an opinion…
Anyway you did a great job for sure ??

Hello, I came across this searching for a similar thing, I made my wordpress in the root directory and now wanted a index page rather it go straight to my blog, and found this post. Thank you I had not thought of using the static page option, will save me a hassle. BUT I also read the posts on here and I went to the Tollywood website, and I wanted to say I agree, Sribharath your site looks real nice, the magazine theme is great and I too thought the index page took away from your website. I if not had read on here you had a nice theme, I would have not clicked enter. I think it works well without it.
