I think you should use the archive shortcode: https://en.support.wordpress.com/archives-shortcode/

Actually the plugin links (day/month with post) point to the archives page, the best solution would be to edit your archive template.

Hi, actually I was interested in this feature.
I have a lot of categories pages that got posts and other stuff checking a session area variable.
I tried to do the same with your plugin and actually I did it, it showed me all the post count of that area category but I had that surprise in archive page.

    Hi.
The plugin has no impact on the page of archives, by default WordPress has monthly, daily, yearly, by category, …, archives. The widget uses a standard archives link (monthly and daily), if you filter the calendar by category the link remains the same (daily or monthly).

If you know any plugin that filters the archives by category and date simultaneously maybe I will be able to make the widget to work with such plugin. Otherwise I may add a feature to provide a custom link on calendar.
