quick question: is there a way to change the permissions of the user role “shop manager”? They have much less permissions than admins, but they can still do things such as editing posts and pages or change theme settings (including CSS).
I expected them to have no permissions but within the WooCommerce plugin for they are the only ones they would need in my opinion.

From what I understand, you’re looking to adjust the permissions for the “shop manager” user role, right? Let’s dive into this.
In WordPress, the ability to perform certain actions is controlled by capabilities. Each user role (such as Administrator, Editor, Shop Manager, etc.) has a specific set of capabilities that determine what the user can and cannot do.
The ‘Shop Manager’ role in WooCommerce does have certain capabilities, including the ability to edit posts and pages or change theme settings, which you’ve noticed. If you want to modify these capabilities, you can indeed do so with the help of plugins.
One such plugin is the ‘User Role Editor‘. This plugin allows you to add, edit, or remove the capabilities of any user role. You can use it to adjust the capabilities of the ‘Shop Manager’ role as per your requirements.

Other plugins that can help you manage user roles and capabilities include ‘Capability Manager Enhanced‘, ‘Members‘, and ‘Groups‘. These plugins offer similar functionality and can be used to fine-tune the capabilities of each user role.

I’ll go ahead and mark this thread as resolved. However, if you ever have more questions or issues in the future, don’t hesitate to kick off a new topic.
