How to change role=”banner” ?

  • ARIA Specification allows only 1 banner per site:
    https://www.w3.org/TR/wai-aria-practices/examples/landmarks/banner.html

    Websites usually use role=”banner” for the topmost part of their site with their logo and main navigation.

    So, the cookies popup really shouldn’t be a “banner”. I think “complementary” role is probably the most logical role or no role at all.

    How can we change the role in a way so that it won’t just get overwritten whenever the plugin is updated?
