How to change 'Recent Work' to something else?

    You can hidden only.
    Go to Theme option => Home => Enabled and Disabled Tab. (bottom of the page)

    you can change the wording by editing front-page.php of your theme (ideally via a child theme);

    this line appr in the middle of the file:

    <h2>Recent Work</h2>
