How to Change Post ID

  • I ws going to change my hosting, so I backed up my posts and import them in the new hosting. But for some reason all the post IDs reset in the order of post dates (the order didn’t change). I don’t like this because in search engines like google all my page references point to the wrong posts at least for a while. How can I avoid this and how can I manually change the IDs? Thanks.

    sorry, i don’t have the answer to your problem.

    but you may be able to help with mine.
    i have a lot of gaps in my post IDs, they go 1,2,4,6,7,8 etc.
    i would like them to go 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc. (no missing numbers) – which it sounds like you have done.
    i am a bit particular about stuff like that ??

    (i know how to stop it skipping a number again, but i would like to reset the old ones that I can’t seem to go back and change).

    any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated ??
