How to change position of drop down menu

Im brand new at this!!! FYI
On my home page, when I hover over a menu page with a dropdown menu, the dropdown “bubble” appears above and overlapping the “parent” menu. How can I make the drop down menu drop directly below the main menu page?
My page is not active yet… I don’t have a link to show you.
I hope this make sense!
