How to change permission for uploading media without hosting?

Thank you for the links. I will have a look at the secons one, as I have an Imac, so windows won’t work for me.
I am building my website in Xampp, but am just starting so a lot of trial and error. When I have the hang of it I want to build the definitive website there as well, before getting hosting.

Since this is really a development install/sandbox, you could try a quick & dirty fix.

Just drop the images you want to upload into the wp-content/uploads folder then install and activate the Add from Server plugin.

Thank you Esmi, I have installed this plugin and that works fine. Now I only have to sort my permissions and I should be good to go!

Does anyone know how to change permissions when you are running WP in XAMPP on an MAC?

There must be something I can do. I have installed Add From Server and my files are in the uploads folder, but I still keep getting the “Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2018/01. Is its parent directory writable by the server?” message. So how do I make it writable??
