• I accidently changed the URL of my website and now I cannot access the dashboard anymore. I’ve understood that I have to fix this through Filezilla, so I downloaded this software and logged on with my FTP address.
But I don’t know where to go from here. How do I edit the URL? I can’t find the wp-admin.ftp or wp-config.ftp (or whatever I need) anywhere.
I’l completely new to Filezilla and FTP, so a very detailed explanation for dummies would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks ??

  • Instructions can be found here. Changing The Site URL

Editing the wp-config.php file directly will work, but this caveat is often overlooked:

“This is not necessarily the best fix, it’s just hardcoding the values into the site itself. You won’t be able to edit them on the General settings page anymore when using this method”

Explore all of the options carefully before deciding which one will work best for you.

Thanks for your reply and the link to the instructions. I still don’t manage to do it. My two obstacles are the following:
    – Where can I find a copy of my active theme’s functions.php file? I don’t know what it means to FTP to the site…
    – Where exactly in the filezilla program can I edit the active theme’s functions.php file? I don’t understand where to click or search to find this option. If you could send me a screenshot showing where in filezilla I can fix this, that would be awesome.

Thanks a lot in advance ??
