• Hello, I am pretty new to wordpress and am noticing that my featured images are automatically resized in posts. I am seeing a bunch of plugins for featured images, but none really seem to do what I want. I simply want the featured image to remain the original size or at least maintain the aspect ratio. I have seen other wordpress sites that have various image sizes for various posts on their site so I know this is possible, just not sure how to do it. I also know that I can do this by altering the CSS code, but Im not that familiar with code and was hoping there would be a quick and easy way to do this. Does anyone know of any plugins that will just keep the featured images as their current size and dimension, or a plugin that will give me some sizing options right in the post? Or just an easy way in general that I can achieve this?

  • Hmmm. Are you talking about a standard size for images? If you go to WordPress Dashboard, then click on Settings, then Media, it lets you specify size for thumbnail, medium, and large images. Is that what you mean?

I don’t think thats what I want because they would still end up all being one size right? I want all the featured images to show up just the way they are in my media library, without being resized and cropped.

So your theme is currently outputting them in an abnormal size?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!

Its a consistent size, just not the size I want. Its setting all of the photos to landscape view and cropping them a little, so even photos that were taken in landscape view are cut off a little. Im not very familiar with knowing what images sizes are or should be so I was hoping there would be an easy way, or plugin to just stop the theme from automatically altering the featured image.
