How to change background on an element?

    I am testing out the Pen theme and looking at how to customise some things such as the colour of the background which is currently black. When I check in the web inspector to see what element it is that has the colour black then it appears to be the ‘pen_section’ one. How can I change the colour of this element?
    I have checked the usual customise tabs in the theme and had a look through the css but its not too apparent to me.

    I am working on the site offline so unfortunately am not able to share a link for anyone to view what I mean but hopefully my description is sufficient.

    Any insights would be greatly welcome.

    Hi there,

    Check the color options under Appearance → Customize → Colors → Content.

    Thanks again for your input.

    I checked this out just in case but there is nothing under any of the many colour controls to be able to change the actual background colour from black.
    The section does appear to be the pen_section but I reckon the colour is defined somewhere in the css however I can’t find it so far.

    If anyone has any further insights then that would be great.

    I think you are looking for this one rather:
    Appearance → Customize → Background image → Site → Dim the lights.

    After all the considerations I am glad that it was something so straightforward.

    Now I can get on with seeing what I can do with the theme for this site.
