How to center text in custom Menu

I would assume something like:

.dropdown-menu > li > a {
text-align:center;
}

(Extrapolated from Dave’s Snippet.)

doesn’t work ??

that centered the sub-menu text, so the text off of “FAQ”, however i meant to have the titles of “Home” and “FAQ” centered.
