    Hi there,

First of all I want to thank your for creating this wonderful plugin. It solved the mail sending problem of my WordPress site and this is important to me.

I used Fluent Form Pro to created a contact form on my site and then I followed this link https://kinsta.com/blog/gmail-smtp-server/ to set up the Post SMTP Mailer so when someone submits with the form, my site uses Gmail API to send email notifications, one for the submitter and one for the admin. These two email templates have been set up in Fluent Form with different contents.

Everything works fine so I have no complain. Just noticed a little thing which is a copy of the email for the submitter was forwarded to the admin too. This is redundant because I’ve already got an email for admin with relevant info so don’t need to see what got sent to the submitter anymore.

I reckon this must be something that I can change either in Post SMTP plugin or Gmail API, but can’t find the right way to do it.

Anyone can help? I use G Suite mail by the way.

    Any input is appreciated.

  • Hi @acon,

Are test emails from Post SMTP also being forwarded to the admin too?

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Tim @tneville,

Thanks for willing to help. Just tried sending another test mail and yes, I can confirm that with my current setup, a test mail from Post SMTP gets sent to both the receiver and the admin email addresses.

    Any thoughts?

    Regards,
    Acon

    Hi Acon @acon,

Just to confirm when you refer to test mail you are referring to sending a test mail from Post SMTP here? https://www.better3dlab.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=postman%2Femail_test

If you go into ‘Show All Settings’ and then the ‘Message’ tab, have you got any addresses under the ‘Additional Email Addresses’ section?

    Kind Regards,
    Tim

    Hi Tim @tneville,

Yes that’s where I sent test emails from, and no, there is no email address under the ‘Additional Email Addresses’ section on the ‘Message’ tab.

I noticed this “redundant emails for admin” thing only after starting using the Gmail API as the sending method.

    Hi Acon,

Can you try setting a different WP site admin email please? I wanted to check that it is indeed sending to the WP site admin, and not just that specific email address that is there too.

I have never seen this before!

    Kind Regards,
    Tim

Hi Tim @tneville, thanks for providing this way to diagnose the issue. I changed the admin email from the original one (say email A) to a new one (say email B) and sent a test mail to email C, and I can confirm that the mail was sent to both email C and the original admin email A, but not email B.

So apparently the redundant mail is not being sent to the WordPress admin, but the same email address that I used somewhere.

As I mentioned, this issue appeared only after I started using the Gmail API, and I used that email address several times when setting up this (very complicated) thing. So I guess it’s somewhere in the Gmail API setting that causes this issue. Any idea where to find the culprit?

    Hi @acon,

Thanks for trying the troubleshooting steps and I am glad that we were able to pin this down a bit more.

Can you check your API connection and Google Workspace set up? I suspect it will be with that. I have never seen this before and have set up many Gmail API connections. I just did one now in fact.

    Kind Regards,
    Tim
