    Hi Folks,
I am running WordPress on a Synology NAS and the Synology OS creates indexing files (hundreds of them) that end with @SynoEAStream. Hence, when I run the Defender Malware scan it flags all these files. I can go in and bulk ignore them (10 at a time) but whenever there are any changes on my site, Synology will create more *@SynoEAStream files. Again, I have to go back in and manually ignore them again.

Is there a way that the Malware scanner could be configured to ignore these files automatically? If not, could I request that as an enhancement to be able to enter file name masks to skip?

    Many thanks, Nigel

    Hi @canuck069,

I’m afraid, the behaviour seems more specific to the workflow of Synology NAS where it would be creating such files randomly.

I’m afraid, Defender at the moment will only offer a feature to manually ignore files which are listed in the Malware Scan.

Since Synology NAS can create new files randomly with similar patterns there isn’t any out-of-the-box feature in Defender to detect or ignore such files unless a Malware scan is invoked.

I’ll make sure to bring your feedback to our team’s attention to check what further improvements that could be considered in such use cases.

    Kind Regards,

    Nithin
