How to build Traffic?

  • Hey there,

    I’ve been running my Blog for a few months now and started to take it a bit more seriously now I have some half decent and original content on it.

    I’ve submitted the Blog to Google, listed in on Blog directory…

    What other major ways are theyt to generate traffic?
    I’m linked from FFFFound.com / stumbleupon / and digg / reddit at the moment….

  • The best way to develop a readership is with worthwhile and original content. There are plenty of ways to lure people to your site, but if there isn’t anything worth reading when they get there they will not come back. Keep working on the content, and if it’s any good the readers will find you.

    Thats great, yeah pretty much what I thought…. I think I have decent enough content, so I’ll keep chipping away at it….

    Tons of networking and start submitting your stories to the media sites ??

    Google ‘SEO link building’, and ‘SEO Consultants’, and variations on those. Read the articles on link building and keywords. Great content isn’t enough if nobody knows you’re out there.

    Cheers yeap I’m looking into that.. so Backlinking is important – at the moment I’m just backlinking to Blog directories… is that a good Idea?

    Try advertising on other sites. Like where it says “Your AD Here” or something.

    Also you can send out a monthly newsletter (that usually gets members active on some sites)

    Building blog traffic tips:

    1. Good original content
    2. Frequent updates
    3. Full feeds (at least initially)
    4. Link to other blogs (other bloggers can find you through trackbacks and referrers)
    5. Leave relevant (not spammy or self-promotional) comments on other blogs
    6. Basic SEO
    7. Submit posts to blog carnivals

    I don’t know how valuable backlinking is, link building usually focuses on getting other sites to link to yours. The ‘value’ and number of those links helps determine how the search engines rank your page.
