    I am getting bot traffic once a month from sites – bottraffic015.xyz , trafficcfit.club , trafficcity.club

I want to block them but couldn’t find the IP address as there are several. How to block the traffic from these menacing sites?

  • Thanks for reaching out.

You can block specific bots a couple of different ways.

You can block them by their browser user agent. To see this, go to the Live Traffic page and search for one of their visits. In the expanded view of the visit (available by clicking on it). The user agent is the string listed under where it says Human/Bot.
Go to the Firewall Blocking page on your website and click on the custom pattern tab.
Where it says Browser User Agent enter the user agent lie it was listed. For example you might add *trafficcfit.club* or *bottraffic015.xyz*.
Note : The asterisk on either side of the entry acts as a wild card and will accept anything that has trafficcfit.club or bottraffic015.xyz in the user agent string using the examples above.
Enter a reason for the block where it says Block Reason (example : Bad Bot)
Click the button that says Block Visitors Matching This Pattern.

You could also block by the Hostname. To block that way follow the steps above but use the Hostname field to block *trafficcity.club/* or *bottraffic015.xyz/*.

It’s always a good idea to go back and look at Live Traffic for a day or two to make sure that you haven’t blocked something inadvertently. I’m pretty sure those patterns above would not but it is always good to check.

    I hope this helps.

I just wanted to add something. I tested an account by going to trafficcity.club (I think) which redirected me to gammatraffic.com. It took forever for the test traffic to get to my site but it appears to come from the hostname compute-1.amazonaws.com. That domain seems to be the favorite of lots of bots. You could block by hostname like this:
    *.compute-1.amazonaws.com
If you do the possibility exists that you might also block bots you want to crawl your site. This is just a general warning because I can’t think of anything specifically. It’s just something to be mindful of.

thanks for the help. Can I block the above-mentioned bad bot traffic using the browser agent method without the possibility of blocking bots that should be allowed to crawl the site?

Additionally, on the live traffic page how to “search for one of their visits?”
