Are you saying that you cannot dismiss the Dismiss Notices by clicking the Dismiss Notice link?

Once you dismiss a Dismiss notice it is dismissed permanently or until you reset them on the Security Status page if you want Bonus Custom Code at a later time. Bonus Custom Code is optional security protection for your website. You can choose to use it or not. It is not required or anything like that. It is simply created for your benefit if you choose to use it.

WordPress itself and all other plugins and themes that have dismiss notices follow this same general WordPress standard/procedure. ie display a dismiss notice with useful/helpful information with a dismiss link or button to dismiss the dismiss notice. Not sure why you would feel that the Bonus Custom Code dismiss notices are not useful or helpful. They are things for your benefit if you choose to use them. ??

This is the first experience I’ve had with Dismiss Notices, so it seems odd to have things popping up in my admin area without my request. The notices do dismiss, so guess I’ll just have to keep dismissing them. The notices may be useful, but I can’t imagine adding all that to a WordPress site, which is why I’d prefer not to have them.

Ah ok got it. Well expect to see more dismiss notices from other plugins and themes and WordPress itself in the future. It is pretty much standard these days and I see more and more plugins and themes using dismiss notices. The general idea behind a dismiss notice is that this is something important that someone should be aware of or basically a “heads up”. ??

It is possible, but not likely that we will be creating any more new Bonus Custom Code, but if a new website hacking method or threat is found that can be used to hack folks websites then we will create new Bonus Custom Code to offer folks protection against that new hacking method/threat. Typically BPS standard security protection code covers all of the majority of attacks/threats/hacking methods, but as certain types of attacks/website hacking methods become more prevalent then we will usually create new countermeasure/protection/Bonus Custom Code to protect against that attack/threat/website hacking method.

Even though I appreciate this shared code and use it to set up client sites, I’d also like to see an option to dismiss this code, mostly because it shows up for all users. Not all users are comfortable working with security. If there are 5 users, each user has to dismiss it individually.

It would be better if it would dismiss for all users – or alternatively have a “dismiss all notices” button for users so each user doesn’t have to dismiss 7, 8, 9, 20 (whatever!) additional notices you decide to share.

    Thanks for listening! ??

The Dismiss Notices are only displayed to Administrators and not all users. The thing that stops us from doing something like allowing 1 Administrator to dismiss Dismiss Notices for all of the other Administrators would be this example scenario (there are several others, but this one is the most bothersome):

A site has 3 Administrators and 1 of those Administrators (Admin A) decides to permanently dismiss all Dismiss Notices for the other Administrators so that the other 2 Administrators (Admin B and Admin C) never see them. Admin A did not understand what the dismiss notices were and just dismissed them or dismissed them for a variety of other possible reasons. Admin B and Admin C would have used the Bonus Custom code if they had seen the dismiss notices. So if you compare the 1 second click per dismiss notice link (7 seconds total time) vs the possibility of 1 Administrator deciding something that maybe they should not be deciding for other Administrators then the obvious best thing to do is to make sure all Administrators see the dismiss notices so that they can make a choice. In a perfect world the 3 Administrators would discuss what they want to do to come up with a solution that works for all 3 Administrators. We have debated this issue for over a year now and the majority of us feel that it is better that all Administrators see the dismiss notices. Currently it is a 70/30 split. ??

    Thanks for the feedback
