yes, well right now i am using CSS to hide the deletion button, but what’s the point restricting the users from deleting their messages when they can simply delete the thread which contains all the messages, so in turn they are actually deleting their messages.

    ok

    Hi,

I was also thinking that the option previously described was made for controlling users ability to delete their threads, because I never saw any way of deleting a message inside a thread (using free version).
    – Is it a websocket only feature ? In case yes, I suggest to ‘grey’ the option in the free version’s backend.

    – I tested the fresh version 1.9.8.65 and the new option to prevent users from deleting their threads is working well. That’s definitely better than CSS for those who need this.

    – A suggestion would be ta add options for each BPBM menu bar icon. Permitting to hide or not the “new message”, “starred”, “settings”, “search” icons easily (without touching the code) and securely (not with css).

Thanks for the great work you have done for the last 6 weeks or so.

Huge thanks @wordplus for those 4 new options in the Customization Admin panel’s tab !
I love it, I won’t have to edit the concerned file on each update anymore ??

For the “Disable New Threads Screen (Disables new thread button and screen)” option, the use here is to only permit contacting a user by clicking the “Private message” button from somewhere (user profile, members loop, ..). It is perfect like this for my personal use because I use the “Easy Start Thread” option.

Nevertheless, I think that would be more reliable for all to make two options for this one, like this :
(yes/no) Disable New Threads button (admin will always see it)
(yes/no) Disable New Threads screen (admin will always see it, new message is only possible if “Easy Start Thread” is used)

Indeed I tried disabling “Easy Start Thread” option, then for the normal user who clicks on “Private message” button from another user’s profile will end on the BPBM main page (listing existing threads) instead of writing a new message.

Finally that second option “Disable New Threads screen” could eventually go under the “Easy Start Thread” option, in the BPBM backend Message tab, leaving the “Disable New Threads button” in the Customization tab.

Anyway, I’m very happy with that 1.9.8.66 update !! ??
