How to block a TLD

Is it possible to block a top level domain? example .cg or .mobi or .biz ?
It seems like the example you provide for blocking a domain .example.com would work but it also seems like blocking .mobi or .biz would also block .mobilewebsite.com and .biz.com.
Is my assumption correct?

Yes, you could put in .biz and block that, HOWEVER it would also block someone with a domain like foo.bizzy (if that was a real thing). The shorter the string, the more likely the false positive. And since people put in periods in gmail addresses,
[email protected](not a real email I think) would also get caught ??
