• Dear develooper!

First of all, thank you VERY much for fantastic, useful plugin! I have only one question: how I can to start showing subtitles, marked as Default? Or, just start subtitles (I have only one track .srt)

I specified lang code (in my case – ‘ru’, russian) and marked track as Default, but when player begin video, needed manually choose subtitles – pressing button CC, etc. Not all guests have skills for this operation )))

And, on Windows Phone 8.1 not able to choose subtitles (mmm.. look like JScript problem…), but I think, if possible enable auto-show subtitles, WP can display them too, and problem related only to choosing operation.

    Thank you in advice!
    Best regards

What browser and video player are you seeing this problem in? It looks like the WordPress Default player is having trouble with default subtitles. I don’t see it in Video.js but I want to verify that WordPress Default is what you’re using. It would also be helpful if you can post a link to a page on your site that demonstrates the problem.

I don’t have any access to Windows Phone devices so I can’t provide any support for Windows Phone problems.

Dear Kyle, tested on latest versions of Chrome and Firefox. I using WordPress as default. In plugin settings WordPress default selected.
Here is link with subtitled video: https://salsainrussian.ru/2017/11/19/lekciya-1-korni-populyarnyx-narodnyx-kubinskix-tancev/
When I switch to Video.js I see – subtitles automatically selected, but not showing, nor Chrome or Firefox.
So, other users reported to me – they cannot to choose subs BEFORE play button pressed, but I haven’t such problems. Just trying to enable autostart subtitles.

Thank you in advance! Best regards

Sorry for the delay. Mediaelement.js (the WordPress Default player) doesn’t appear to use the default attribute so I’ve had to create manual work-arounds for it. WordPress recently updated the version of Mediaelement.js they were using and I didn’t notice that the way subtitle selection worked had changed, and my workaround never worked if preload was set to none. Anyway, I’m getting close to a fix and you can follow my progress on Github. Feel free to try out the development version if you want to help beta test.
