• Hi,
I’m new to this plugin and I need some help.
I want to set up the plugin in a way that when a user click on the small youtube picture – the video will open in the bigger Lightbox – but will start automatically – because it’s strange that the user have to click 2 times on the play button.

This is the code I’m using:

    [video_lightbox_youtube video_id=w3-pZM5VhsU width=640 height=480 auto_thumb="1"
    autoplay="true"]

I tried with the autoplay=”true” and without – but still the same.

Also I tried to click the

Automatically start videos: true / false [default: true]

-but with or without it – the video will not start automatically when the customer is clicking on the small thumbnail.

I want the Lightbox plugin to work like a regular YouTube video – so when a customer is clicking on the play button the video will be shown in the larger Lightbox – but will start automaticaly.

Another issue – There are black stripes at the top and at the button of the video thumbnail – how can I remove them? When I use the regular YouTube link – there is no black margin…

You can see here the black margin issue – the top image is the regular YouTube video as I added to my site and at the bottom you can see the video thumbnail via the Lightbox plugin:

    Can you please help?
    Thanks!
    Ram

    Hi,
    You can see it here.

Please note that there are lots of video on this page – I converted one of them to use the Lightbox plugin – You can see in in this screen shot – you will be able to recognize it by the black margins ans the read play button.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

you will be able to recognize it by the black margins ans the read play button.

Unfortunately those black margins cannot be removed easily. Your best option is to create that image yourself and added to the shortcode. The following shortcode shows you an image added as an anchor.

    [video_lightbox_youtube video_id="G7z74BvLWUg" width="640" height="480" anchor="https://www.yourdomain.com/wp-content/uploads/anchor-image.jpg"]

If you enable Autoplay in the settings, this feature auto plays the video when you click on the image or text link.

    Kind regards

    Hi,
O.k. – I change the auto_thumb=”1″ to the anchor= – but still the video is not autoplaying.

This is the code I’m using:

    [video_lightbox_youtube video_id="w3-pZM5VhsU" width="640" height="480" anchor="https://www.psifas.co.il/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/?????-??????-????????-?????.png"]

When I click on the picture I get this popup window – the movie is not auto starting and there is the more videos displaying. also there is a “close” text in yellow above the X button on the lower right.

This is when adding a check mark in the Autoplay section of the plugin setting.
When I remove the check mark the video ls also not auto starting – but the “more videos” is not displaying.

So – Should I check or uncheck this Autoplay setting?
And how can I make sure that the video is auto starting?

By the way – I tested it with eadg browser – and it’s working. So this is something related to the chrome browser….

    Thanks!

Hi Ram, have you done a theme and plugin conflict test? If not, can you carry out the following.

Disable all other plugins then carry out a test. If that does not help can you test one of WordPress default themes like Twenty Seventeen. Then carry out a test.

    Report back with any results.

    Thank you

    Hi,
You can see the same problem on a test server with Twenty Seventeen WordPress default theme.

Again – the problem is just with chrome.

    Thanks!

Hi Ram, yes I can confirm that the autoplay is not working in Google Chrome Version 68.0.3440.106 (Official Build) (64-bit). This is the latest version.

I have submitted a message to the plugin developers to investigate further this issue.

    Thank you

@ramf, It appears Google has changed their autoplay policy. They don’t want a video to play unless the user takes an action:

    Hi,

unless the user takes an action

But the user took an action by clicking to the anchor or the thumbnail…

I see here – that when I click on YouTube Lightbox Demo it is working on my chrome – so maybe there is an option to change something in your plugin so it will worg again on chrome?

    Thanks!

They probably don’t want to comment on other people’s plugin. But I’m also interested in this… Is there supposed to be a fix coming for autoplay for this plugin?

They probably don’t want to comment on other people’s plugin

This was just an example that there must be a way to solve the problem.
And it can be according to google autoplay policy – since the user took an action by clicking on the play button.

Any way – I also hope to hear from the developers.

Yep, the fix is coming soon, we’re testing it at the moment.
